My Retro Portfolio and My Stories - 1
Fashion

I shot these images in Kodachrome 25 during the late 70's from my Manhattan studio.   During that era, the fashion world had a very different culture - not better nor worse, just different. Personally I hold profound memories from that period. May I share with you some of my memories?

This shot was used by the original Duggal Color Lab to display its printing quality on white color at their showroom. I got to know Mr. Duggal personally during that time. He is a hard working and very smart business man. Duggal Lab eventually became a legend of photo lab and is still going strong to this day.

I was mimicking ads by Charles Jurden brand. I love color of their gloves and sunglasses, but graphically I didn't do well with the umbrella light reflection on the sunglasses......

I was experimenting a brand-new fog filter from Hollywood movie industry in 1979. The result was better than most of the softer filters I had used. I like the way it softens the overall image. Although it causes some color shift and vignette, but I still like its overall aesthetically feeling.  What do you think?

Renauld White is one of the top male models from Zoli Model Agency in 70’s and a true gentleman. I was working with Renny for the 1980 Tribute to Black Designer Champion sponsored by FIT. After the shoot, he asked me if I could shoot a “tough” look image for him. Well, here it is, Renny….

Thanks so much for your visit and for allowing me to share my personal stories with you. I am very grateful.
