Retro New York - 1
Henri Bendel - At Its Final Days
Henri Bendel was a women's department store established in 1895 in New York city. Its New York City flagship store occupied five story city Landmark building at 714 Fifth Avenue. Henri Bendel was the first retailer to sell Coco Chanel designs in the U.S. During the 1960s, Andy Warhol was an in-house illustrator. There are elegant and exquisite boutiques within a boutique. Even its restrooms commanded class. Henri Bendel was also the first retailer to have its own fragrance, to offer in-store makeovers, and to stage its own fashion show. For all these years, it was such a fun place to visit. Unfortunately, it was permanently closed in January 2019. We will always miss you, Henri Bendel !

A Manhattan socialite staple and Blair Waldorf-approved, the Henri Bendel department store was a fashion mainstay for over 100 years.
